1988 und 1989 war Kumano Deutscher Meister in der Seitenwagenklasse auf einem LCR-Honda Seitenwagen mit seinem Beifahrer Markus Fahrni.
2001 hat Kumano hat ein Weltmeisterteam an den Start gebracht, dass jedoch leider nicht mehr existiert. Zwischen 1981 und 1991 belegte Kumano immer einen Platz in den TOP TEN. Respekt!!!
Sein vielleicht bestes Jahr, jedenfalls sein bestes internationales Resultat, hatte Kumano 1979, er belegte in der WM den dritten Rang!!!
1979 war das beste Jahr von Masato Kumano,
er wurde dritter hinter Biland und dem
Weltmeister Bruno Holzer
